A Message from Dr. Engel

Our Authors Ink Literary Club started as a Charles Dickens reading group back in 1980 with thirty members. Since I now lecture on so many authors we broadened our name to Authors Ink in 1997. We now boast—and please forgive the boasting—a mailing to thousands of listeners in all 50 states and 18 countries! We'd love to have you join our club. Membership is FREE. Click here to join.

Since 1982, I have taken over 1000 members on journeys which have included England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt, Russia, France, Austria, and Hungary. I always give at least five new lectures on each tour to prepare our participants for the wonderful historical and literary sites we visit, and I'm with them every step of the way.

In addition, every other year we hold a literary convention here in Raleigh on topics ranging from "The Glories of the Victorian Novel" to "The History and Mystery of Humor in Literature," and most recent, "A Whirlwind Weekend of World Literature." Hundreds of members from all over the United States gather for the joy of lectures, tours, banquets, and above all, fellowship.

We will keep you current on our Dickens Destinations Literary Tours abroad, our national conventions, Broadway play weekends, my speaking schedule in the United States, my new audiocassettes and CDs, and my literary columns.

Since Charles Dickens is the source of our club, we steal from the titles of two of his novels when we urge you to: "Join with Great Expectations and become Our Mutual Friend."

In fellowship,
